Don A. Pope is the president
and founder of PBC Inc.
(Pope Business Consulting).
Pope has held significant
leadership roles in a
Westinghouse corporate
research laboratory where
he created, managed and
implemented complex new
product development designs.
The laboratory is a prime
contractor for the nuclear
navy. Pope’s work
included managing the
development of new technology
and its associated components
of personnel, finance,
schedule, performance,
and final product certification.
He was also responsible
for ensuring naval acceptance
of submarine components
for future operation.
As a result of his work,
he developed an ability
to assess the potential
and limitations of new
or current technology
as well as the critical
business needs of the
project or enterprise.
He created innovative
solutions that utilized
the hidden potential of
the technology or business,
often resolving critically
time-constrained projects
in order to meet drop-dead
date schedules.
Pope’s interests
and talents then led him
to seek graduate education
in business management
as a complement to his
mechanical engineering
background. Subsequently,
he has worked in a variety
of consulting capacities,
culminating in the founding
of PBC Inc. His expertise
allows him to offer clients
the unusual combination
of technical knowledge
and business acumen.
Pope offers his clients
a personal approach marked
by his ability to listen
well. By focusing on listening,
he learns what their essential
needs are and how best
to help them. As a result,
he provides insightful
analysis and effective
recommendations that meet
each client’s specific
needs.
Pope has worked as a
consultant in the manufacturing,
energy, technology, and
service industries. He
uses his experience to
help clients find the
hidden potential in their
business or technology,
promoting their further
growth and profit.
He has a BSME from Tufts
University and an MBA
from Boston University.
He is a member of the
national honor business
society, Beta Gamma Sigma.
He is a member of the
American Society of Mechanical
Engineers, the Institute
of Management Consultants,
and the Worcester Polytechnic
Institute (WPI) Venture
Forum’s Program
Committee. He serves on
the Board of Directors
of the Smaller Business
Association of New England
(SBANE) and is a captain
in SBANE’s CEO Dialog
Program.
In addition to his professional
duties, he is the President
and an Assistant Director
of the New Bostonians
Barbershop Harmony Chorus.
